Solar Panels

Solar Home install solar panels across the Dublin in many different ways, integrated flat panels (these panels that are fitted flush with the roof like velux windows), externally mounted flat panels (these panels are mounted slightly proud of the roof), externally mounted flat panels on a frame (these are panels that are mounted on a frame on a flat roof, in a court yard or in a garden, Evacuated tube systems (these are externally mounted slightly proud of the roof structure).

Did you know that Dublin has the same solar irradiation as Paris! It is not commonly known that in Dublin we have the same solar irradiation as continental Europe. A house in Dublin can achieve 60% – 70% of its domestic hot water from a correctly specified set of solar panels. Ideally the panels should be positioned on a south facing roof with the minimal of shading and if correctly specified they will give the almost all of the hot water requirements for the house from mid-March to mid-October.

They still work for the winter months but during this period they will pre heat the water (e.g. taking the water temperature from 10C to 30C) so that the oil or gas heating burns less fuel to heat the water. WARRANTY DETAILS

Our 5-year and 7-year warranty is provided for both boiler upgrades and full system upgrades covering only selected boilers we install.

The warranty does require an annual inspection of the boiler and system by the installing company which does incur an inspection fee.

Building Energy Rating

(BUILDING ENERGY RATING)

A BER is an indication of the energy performance of a home.

It covers energy use for space heating, water heating, ventilation and lighting calculated on the basis of standard occupancy.

A BER is similar to the energy label for a household electrical appliance like your fridge. The label has a scale of A-G. A-rated homes are the most energy efficient and will tend to have the lowest energy bills.

From the 1st of January 2009, a BER certificate became compulsory for all homes being sold or offered for rent. If you are buying or renting a house or apartment, you are entitled to a BER so ask the seller, landlord or agent for it.

A BER certificate is accompanied by an advisory report which will identify how you might improve the energy performance of your home.

A BER is also required, subject to transitional arrangements, where construction of a new home begins on or after 1st January 2007.

There are exemptions for certain categories of homes, for example, protected structures and certain temporary homes.

A new home (i.e that has never been sold or occupied) is exempt from the BER requirement if the planning application was submitted on or before the 31st December 2006 and if it was substantially completed by 30th June 2008. ‘Substantially completed’ means that the external walls have been erected.
